Wigan Athletic and Millwall dropped out of Ligue 1

Wigan Athletic, whose lightning progress in English football lead to participation in the Premier League and won the Football Association Cup, will play in the third Division next season. They slipped for the second time within three years after Rotherham defeated Reading with 2:1 and ensured participation in the League Championship and in the following year.
Rotherham`s victory sent another glorious Club in the third Division Millwall.
For Wigan, relegation is considered normal, because the town is crazy about rugby and football occupies an emphatic second place in the hearts of the fans. This team would still remain in the history of the local football as the only winners of the FA Cup and in a single season. The victory for the trophy created a real shock in 2013, when the Latics prevailed Manchester City in the final match, played on the mythical Wembley.
The downfall of Wigan began with the departure of the architect of this project, Roberto Martinez. He was succeeded by Owen Coyle, who, however, left his post since before Christmas. Uwe Roesler was then less than a year the management post, and the Small Mackay held for five months. The last relegation was the one of Gary Caldwell.
