The footballer of Barcelona, Javier Mascherano, commented that years ago, the coach of Real Madrid, Rafael Benitez, wanted him in Valencia.
As it is known, in the period from 2001 to 2004 year Benitez was at the head of the `bats`.
`Benitez wanted to draw me in Valencia when he was at the helm of the club. Then I still played in River Plate.`, began Mascherano still works together with the Spanish coach during their stay in Liverpool.
